Race report first Drachten races July 8 and 9 2002

In teh weekend of July 8 and 9 the Haas Brothers ProMod dragbike was fired up for the first time. Many hours had been put into the bike in the week before that in order to have it ready.

Saturday morning the bike started up and immediately started coughing out big black smoke clouds indicating a VERY rich mixtures. Even though teh Amals had been converted back to gasoline (from Methanol) on which they did just fine in the past, they were now consistantly rich.

Blocking of the idle circuit and decreasing the main jet size a lot at least mad the bike rideable. With this undesirable setting the first, carefull, no nitrous run could be made.

We were hoping to see some very stable performance compared to the previous bike. Instead, we were surprised by a VERY twisty ride of the starting line.
